Real Madrid and Barcelona are the most important clubs of Spain and they are very famous all around world. For this reason, their match is the most important event in this country. The shops close, the politicians rest and the whole society watch the football match on the television.

Football in Spain is very important, but I guess it is the same all over the world. Nevertheless, when Real Madrid and Barcelona have a match the situation is different. The whole country is hanging on the television. Spain stops within the time of the match. These days, in bars or restaurants, the people only speak about the clubs, the players or the strategy of the coach, and the main national newspapers EL PAIS, ABC or EL MUNDO- realize a “special” about the match. Other example is the shops. It owners close before because the people prefer being in their houses seeing the match. The politicians have a special timetable too.

In the last match, Real Madrid won Barcelona for 2 – 0 in Bernabeu, the football ground of Real Madrid. The goals “meringues” were from the team leader Raul and the Dutch Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Barcelona never had the possibility to score. But, this match was an exception because in the former years Barcelona has always won the match between these two football clubs. The problem of this type of match is the violence. On the day of the match, in Madrid and Barcelona there are always problems with the radical followers and so the police have a team for these kind of occasions. In Barcelona, for example, the anti-globalization groups use the match to organize riots and to show their position. Last year, they broke the main shops of the city center and painted urban furniture. The police had to stop them and the Media were not able to transmit any information on the game, but about the problems going on in the streets. On the other hand, Real Madrid has the most important radicals of the country and there have already occurred several problems with tourists in Barcelona due to their feverous acts. When the match is in Madrid, there is a lot of police too. This problem is very difficult to solve because people drink too much alcohol, and they have passion for this kind of sport and for their own clubs. The objective: put an end to violence! History of the clubs According to a consulted document, Real Madrid Football Club is the most important Spanish sports club. The reason for this is that they are the owners of “The 20th Century`s Best Club” title, awarded by FIFA. This important club, which was one of the founding members of FIFA and also which went in the place of the Spanish FA, has already won a record of 29 Liga’s titles and has also been to the European Champions in a record of 9 times. Nevertheless, in the lasts years, they have had many problems to win gain parties. It was the time of the galactics. In this time, Real Madrid bought a lot of famous players, for example, David Beckham. It was the time of Florentino Pérez, the ex president of Real Madrid. Now, the situation is better but is not the best. In the last Champion match, Real Madrid tied with Lyon.

Barcelona Football Club is the second more important Spanish club. Barcelona, also known as FC Barcelona, or Barça, is a sports club based in Barcelona, Catalunia, Spain. The club was founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English, and Catalan footballers directed by Joan Gamper. Nowadays the club has become a Catalan institution because there are a lot of political “matters” in the matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Nevertheless, Barça has not won the same amount of titles than of Real Madrid, but in the lasts years they have achieved a more relevant position within football clubs.

In conclusion, Real Madrid and Barcelona are more than two clubs, and more than a match. Their cities, Madrid and Barcelona, are the most important cities of Spain and for this same reason there a huge rivalry between them. Their match is very famous all around the world, such that even Arabs and Chinese get a cover of this sports event. For that reason, they are the equipment with more money of Europe. One example is that their official t-shirt is sold anywhere in the world, even here in Finland.
